"GO AND MAKE DISCIPLES, BAPTIZING THEM …" ( Matthew 28:19)

Dearly Beloved ,

Welcome ! The weather is finally warming up. Thank God! For those who have given the cold weather as a good excuse for not attending services ,I hope you will maximize the current season to spring forth. We have been seeing new faces at our church services from Sunday to Sunday. I feel excited about this. Lets keep it up. Lets go out knocking on doors, making phone calls, sending emails, to bring friends and family members to Christ and His church. This should be the only business of the church.

It is universally said that “In life, the most important thing is to keep the most important thing, the most important thing”. In my few years of experience in my Christian journey I have found churches constantly engaged in many activities that do not reflect the vision of the owner of the business. My role however as a Pastor is to gently and remind us of our call. While calling His first disciples, Jesus says , “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men”, Matthew 4:19.

So the goal of Jesus Christ is to make us all fishers of men/women/children. He basically seeks to make disciples of us so he can use us to bring other disciples to the fold. A disciple is a follower and student of a mentor, teacher, or otherwise figure. A disciple spends time learning from the master and goes out to carry out jobs assigned to him/her. As we continue as a church, it is becoming more important that we focus our energy, resources and passion on the two goals: Becoming Better Disciples and Making Other Disciples.I dont want us to forget this for one minute.

As we plan for the next sale of shoes ,coats, antiques,…in church, plan for dinners, organize musical concerts, celebrate birthdays, plan weddings, celebrate funerals, we should constantly remember to use each opportunity to Make ourselves better disciples and Make new disciples.

Below are two questions in our cathecism.

Q. Who are the ministers of the church?

A. Laypersons, bishops, priests and deacons.

Q. What is the Ministry of Laity?

A.  The ministry of lay persons is to represent Christ and his Church; to bear witness to him wherever they may be; and, according to the gifts given them, to carry on Christ's work of reconciliation in the world; and to take their place in the life, worship, and governance of the Church.

From the above every member of the church is a minister. We are all called to carry on the work of reconciliation. As we step out of church every Sunday, let us remember to do the work that he has sent us to do.

"GO AND MAKE DISCIPLES,”

May the Blessing,Grace, Love,Anointing of God follow you as you move out . Amen.

 God Bless
