Dearly Beloved Brothers and Sisters,
Welcome to 2008. We thank God for sparing our lives through the perils of last year.
In 2007, we were able to construct our parking lot and purchase a church van. On behalf of the vestry, I thank all guilds and persons who made specific contributions towards these major projects. We also received our check from the United Thank Offering (UTO) and financial aid from the St James Fund of the Diocese of New Jersey. This has made it possible to hire a new assistant Priest. We thank God for bringing Father Ifeanyi and his wonderful family to us. They are truly a blessing from God.
With every New Year comes new blessings, new challenges, new hope, new opportunities, new approaches….and of course every New Year comes with CHANGE. I am sure you have heard a lot about CHANGE from Barak Obama, John Edwards and Hillary Clinton. Yes the more we talk about change, the more we find the need for change. From the very first day I stepped into St Augustine’s Church, I have talked over and over about change. 2008 will certainly be a year to make significant changes in our approach so we can move to the next level of our church life. I only plead with everyone to understand that whatever changes are going to be made will be such as will take our dear church to a revolutionary path of growth and expansion. The goal is to make St Augustine a very viable church a truly thriving church. I dare to say with an average attendance of 200 every Sunday-(50 in 8.00am and 150 in 10.00am). Right now we are averaging 90 every Sunday. The goal is to double our Sunday attendance
If we must grow, we must change. We desperately need to Create Healthy Attitudes for Needed Growth and Expansion. Welcome to 2008. Welcome to ****CHANGE****!
